Bitpanda, one of Europe's fastest-growing fintechs,
announced the completion of a $263 million Series C financing round on Tuesday.
- Valar Ventures, headed by Peter Thiel, valued the
business at $4.1 billion in the round. It comes only months after Bitpanda
Austria raised $170 million in a Series B round in March, valuing the company
at $1.2 billion and making it Austria's first-ever digital unicorn.
- The Vienna-based investing platform plans to utilize
the new funds to expand its technology, worldwide development, and growth.
- The financing included billionaire hedge fund manager
Alan Howard, REDO Ventures, and previous investors LeadBlock Partners and Jump
Capital.
- Bitpanda was founded in 2014 by Eric Demuth, Paul Klanschek, and Christian Trummer as a bitcoin exchange. Since then, it has grown to include stock, precious metals, and exchange-traded funds trading.
