The Dogecoin Foundation is back, with Ethereum's Buterin as a consultant

The Dogecoin Foundation has been re-established as a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the memecoin's growth via advocacy, governance, and trademark protection.

- The foundation has a number of well-known boardmembers and advisers, including Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, who serves as the organization's "blockchain and crypto advisor."

- Elon Musk's agent, Jared Birchall, will act as the Foundation's legal and financial adviser, while dogecoin core developer Max Keller will serve as a technical advisor and dogecoin creator Shibetoshi Nakamoto will serve as the community and memes advisor.

- Jens Wiechers, a veteran of the Dogecoin Foundation, and Michi Lumin and Ross Nicoll, creators of the Dogecoin core blockchain, are among the board members.

- The charity, which was founded in 2014, remained dormant over time and ultimately disbanded.

- The foundation is currently attempting to obtain a three-year budget in order to employ a small team to work full-time on dogecoin.

- It also said that the foundation would “announce new projects that will complement [sic] the existing Core Wallet to allow quicker integration and simpler APIs for Financial, Social, and Charitable organizations wanting to utilize Dogecoin” in the coming weeks.
